Recreation Classes
The following is a class description list of the styles that we offer. Please note that all styles are not always offered, as we occasionally add and drop certain classes based on community input.
Acro- 45 minute class $60

Acro dance is a unique dance style that blends the athleticism of acrobatics with the artistry of classical dance techniques. It emphasizes strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, incorporating impressive tricks like handstands, cartwheels, and aerials into fluid and expressive choreography. Acro dance emphasizes a fusion of dance technique with acrobatic elements, often performed on a hard floor, while tumbling, rooted in gymnastics, focuses on executing acrobatic tricks with power and precision. At Leap of Faith, acro classes will be geared toward dancers and tumbling classes will be geared toward cheerleaders.
Ballet- 30 minute beginner-int. class $45, 45 minute advanced class $60

Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and will maximize technique and longevity in a career of dance. It provides grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Students are taught proper body placement, body alignment, barre and center floor work, along with across the floor combinations.
Contemporary- 45 minute class $60

​Contemporary is a free flowing form of dance with elements of modern, jazz, ballet, lyrical and styles unique to itself. This class encourages natural movement and personal interpretation. It focuses on self-expression, awareness of space and body movement, use of body weight, efficiency of muscle use and body alignment.
Free Movement- 45 minute class $60

​Free Movement dance is a dance style characterized by unstructured, personally directed movements, with an emphasis on improvisation and creativity. It's a form where dancers express themselves freely, without set steps or choreography, interpreting music or emotions in their own unique way.
Jazz- 45 minute class $60

Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz to help develop a well rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations.
Lyrical- 45 minute class $60

Lyrical is a combination of ballet and jazz that challenges dancers to use choreography and movement to interpret music and express emotion. Dancers learn to express emotions derived from lyrics to convey the dance’s meaning. It emphasizes interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract.
Modern- 45 minute class $60

Modern classes teach students the rudimentary movements that are the foundation for classical modern dance to live musical accompaniment. Students will focus on contractions, spirals, basic floor work, and elemental concepts of space, time and force. They will also build core strength and flexibility in a fun and encouraging environment.
Musical Theater- 45 minute class $60

Musical Theater typically blends the three key components of dancing, singing and acting. Students will focus on each individual component before collaboratively fusing the three techniques together to form a full musical theater performance piece to songs from today's best, well-known musicals. This class includes a proper warm-up, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.
Pointe- invitation only

Pointe classes are designed for students with previous ballet training, typically 2-3 years of consecutive training. Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work and across the floor combinations. These exercises focus on strengthening the feet and ankles. Dancers must have instructor approval for this class. Dancers must be enrolled in an additional ballet class along with pointe classes.
Strength & Conditioning- 45 minute class $60

Strength and Conditioning dance classes help dancers improve their flexibility, stamina, and strength, and also teaches them about their bodies' mechanics in relation to dance technique.
Tap- 45 minute class $60

Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun.
Tiny Tumbling- 30 minute class $45

Tiny Tumbling will be an introduction to tumbling class for ages 2-4. Children will be introduced to coordination, strength, flexibility, and listening skills while learning the basic foundations of beginner tumbling skills. A leotard of any color is required for this class. A skirt of any color is optional.
Tiny Twirlers- 30 minute class $45

Tiny Twirlers will be an introduction to dance class for ages 2-4. Children will be introduced to coordination, rhythm and listening skills while learning the basic foundations of creative movement with a focus on beginner ballet. Leotard, tights and ballet shoes of any color are required for this class. A skirt of any color is optional.
Tumbling- 45 minute class $60

Tumbling classes focus on a wide variety of skills including forward rolls, handstands, back and front walkovers, aerials, front and back handsprings, jumps, and leg holds. Tumbling, rooted in gymnastics, focuses on executing acrobatic tricks with power and precision whereas acro dance emphasizes a fusion of dance technique with acrobatic elements, often performed on a hard floor, while . At Leap of Faith, tumbling classes will be geared toward cheerleaders and acro classes will be geared toward dancers.
Turns & Leaps- 45 minute class $60

Turns & Leaps will focus on developing the skills necessary to perform a variety of turns and leaps i.e. pirouettes, a la seconde turns, fouette turns, coupe turns, pencil turns, attitude turns, leg hold turns, second jumps, switch leaps, switch second leaps, backwards jetes, surprise jumps, etc.
